The Language & Communication research group studies language use in media and organizational settings. This research is typically multidisciplinary and in its methods and theoretical basis it combines discourse analysis with linguistics, psychology, communication studies and media studies. We study how first-aid workers process information during their practice sessions with instructional videos, and how writing styles in emails can be analysed to determine whether they were written by the same suspect. The varying nature of our research shows that our main goal is to improve communication processes. We typically collaborate with companies and government agencies in our projects. The rise of social media has proved to be a powerful impulse for the research carried out by members of the group.
