You can find the abstractbook here. In addition, videos of the presentations can be viewed here. A selection of the papers will also be published in an edited volume.
This symposium explored the interplay between dress and identity in the greater Mediterranean basin, with a special focus on Muslim societies and interconnected cultures. It brought together scholars from different disciplines, using a wide spectrum of methods, with the aim of putting perceptions of dress in the past and present into a broader perspective. Themes that recurred throughout the papers were dress as part of the representation of the Self and the Other – both in itself and in depictions – and the entanglement of sartorial indicators of culture, status, and religion.
